Salt River Community Center Cake Walk
The Salt River-Barnard School (Circa 1932-1954) became a community building when the New London Elementary School was built in 1954. Many community events have been held there. Among them were weddings & receptions, anniversary parties, holiday parties, square dancing, and plays. The old stage was removed years ago but still is located on the premises, as wellas the old stage curtain (which has seen better days).
Cake walks were popular during the 40-70's and a little into the 1980's as a popular fundraiser 7 everyone goes home with a dessert or tow. It is a great family event.
Please bring a pie or two, a cake or two, plates of cookies, and these will be donated for the cake walk. Music and refreshments will be provided. If you can't attend, but would like to help, please drop off your donation and desserts with your name for this worthwhile cause.
Help support your local community and help preserve an old historical building, as it one of a few remaining one room school houses left standing in rural Missouri!
