Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce Committees

The Ambassador Committee which is chaired by Jim Fox, is made up of three teams of ten who are lead by a team leader.  The purpose of this committee is to serve as the public relations arm of the Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce, enhancing the image of our business community and the organization by presenting a positive and professional attitude.  The Ambassadors assist chamber staff by attendance and support at ribbon cuttings, business after hours and other designated special events or chamber programs.

The Budget and Finance Committee
is chaired by Treasurer Jim Millan.   This committee is made up of the Treasurer, who  acts as its Chairperson, the Executive Director and the President-Elect.  The Treasurer  convenes this committee and  prepares a cash flow analysis and a budget for the fiscal year which it deems to be adequate to carry out the organization's programs.  This budget and analysis is presented to the President and Executive Committee for review no later than the January Executive Committee meeting.  Thereafter, a final version of the budget is presented at a Board of Directors Meeting for approval not later than the February meeting.  At regular intervals throughout the year, the Treasurer will ensure that actual income and expenses are within the parameters of the budget.   At the end of the fiscal year this committee will submit a report and guideline budget for the following year to the President-Elect for his/her information and consideration.

The Facilities & Technology Committee
which is chaired by Past President John Ravenscraft is currently  working on a long range  plans for the previous building.  The committee recently oversaw a new roof, new HVAC system, and several other needed improvements.  The Chamber also recently launched a new website and social networking initiative under the guidance of the Facilities & Technology Committee.

The Legislative Committee
is chaired by president-elect Debbie Catlett.  In the past the committee discussed several important pieces of federal legislation including cap and trade, health care reform, and the Employee Free Choice Act.  One goal of this committee is to stay on top of legislation that would affect chamber members and elevate it to the full board to take an official stance on it.   The Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce is also a member of the Missouri Chamber Federation which is a 40+ member group which collectively supports identified areas of common interest of the Missouri Business Community.  We invite you to participate on this committee full time or just on a part time basis if you have an issue you would like to see us discuss.  This committee also is very active in meeting with our elected officials and should meet monthly.

The Membership Committee
has been inactive for several years and will reform to focus on a new membership campaign to solicit new members in addition to retention, which the chamber staff has focused on in recent years.  Mckenzie Disselhorst has agreed to chair this committee since she will be active in the day to day operations of the membership drive.  McKenzie will utilize the ambassador committee in these efforts as they have become active in recruitment.

The Transportation Committee is chaired by Dick Rupp, CEO at Altorfer of Hannibal.  This committee is one of the longest standing and most active committees of the chamber.  The group looks at all modes of transportation in Hannibal and beyond.  The committee has been a strong partner with MoDOT and local County officials in projects such as the four lane Highway 61, the new Mississippi River Bridge, and the TDD which helped lead to the passage of the sales tax which pushed forward the early construction to make Highway 36 four lane. Historically the chamber has been one of the community leaders for transportation projects.  Members of the transportation committee also participate in ribbon cuttings, road openings, transportation forums and conferences.
