Hannibal Chamber of Commerce Announces the Tom and Becky Finalists for the 2011-2012 Year
The Hannibal Chamber of Commerce announces the Top 10 Finalists for the 2011-2012 season. These five boys and five girls will represent Hannibal as Goodwill Ambassadors greeting tourists and promoting the city of Hannibal.
Tom Sawyers are:
Bradley Curl, Philip Dauma, Logan Locke, Daniel Norman and Christopher Wetton
Becky Thatchers are:
Sydney Bennett, Julie Colborn, Teri Davis, Erin Sublette and Jessica Taylor
The next step for these young adults will be Orientation in June and final judging on July 1st with the announcement of the Official Tom and Becky at noon on July 4th.

Hannibal Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Terry R. Sampson along with Melissa Cummins, Tom and Becky Coordinator, announced today the names of the 12 boys and 12 girls who have been chosen as semi-finalists for the Hannibal Chamber's Tom and Becky Program for 2011-2012.

41 Hannibal seventh graders presented speeches to a committee at the Hannibal Middle School on Friday, March 11. The 24 semi finalists now prepare for testing over Mark Twain and Hannibal to be given at the Middle School by Chamber representatives on April 26th. Ten-minute interviews are scheduled for the evening of April 29th, to be conducted by a panel of Chamber members and judges familiar to the Tom & Becky Program and the tourist industry and the announcement of the five Tom and Becky finalists will be made on Saturday, April 30th.
A two-day orientation for the youngsters is planned for June 13th and14th. Final judging by 3 out of town judges will take place on July 1. The announcement of the new Tom and Becky will be made immediately after the parade on July 4th. This year's official Tom and Becky are Austin Janes and Salwa Mikhail.

Tom and Becky Contest Begins for 2011-2012
Invitations are being extended to all seventh-graders who reside within the Hannibal School District and attend school within the Hannibal School District to participate in the Tom and Becky Contest for 2011-2012. Public, private and home schooled 7th grade students are invited to participate. Signups are being held through Friday, Feburary 25th at the Hannibal Middle School, Holy Family School and at the chamber office.
