Striving to accomplish its purpose to promote the Hannibal area, the
Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce organizes and hosts many programs
throughout the year. Some of the events are focused around uniting
area business leaders, some work to draw new businesses to town, and
still others increase awareness of Hannibal's role and influence on
the national and global economy. Below is a list of just some of the
great programs put on each year.

- ANNUAL
DINNER
- This Annual Meeting allows members
to reflect on the previous year and to visualize the year
ahead. The ceremony consists of installing new Board Members
and presenting the Pacesetter and Community Betterment Awards.
- ANNUAL
GOLF TOURNAMENT
- This fund-raiser for the Chamber offers
members networking and advertising opportunities. The four
person scramble is held each year at Norwoods Golf Club.
- BUSINESS
AFTER HOURS
- Members are encouraged to host an evening of networking
to feature their business and facility.
- BUSINESS
EXPO
- Each March the Chamber holds an exhibition giving local
businesses an opportunity to show off their products and services
to the public. The show also includes a business after hours
for member businesses and their guests.
- CHAMBER
AMBASSADORS
- As representatives of the Chamber, this committee was organized
to officiate at Ribbon Cuttings, Ground Breakings, and to
welcome new businesses, professionals, and prospective business
people to our community.
- HANNIBAL
COMMUNITY BETTERMENT ASSOCIATION
- Establishment and utilization of the Missouri Community
Betterment Program to strengthen the Hannibal community.
- HANNIBAL
COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
- A study to determine the feasibility of a community foundation.
- LEADERSHIP
HANNIBAL
- The purpose of this successful chamber program is to develop leadership potential and highlight the total resources
of our community, by giving participants an opportunity to
meet with local businesses and community leaders.
- MAYOR'S
YOUTH COUNCIL
- A collaborative effort among the Chamber, Hannibal Public
Schools and the Mayor's office, providing leadership development
opportunities to high school youth through greater municipal
and community insights, accomplishments, and recognition.
- NEWCOMER
RECEPTION
- New members of the community are welcomed each twice a year at a
reception consisting of community leaders and Chamber representatives.
- NOONDAY
LUNCHEON SERIES
- These luncheons address issues such as small business, the
community, agriculture, education, and legislation updates.
- SENIOR
EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS
- An assessment of Senior employment resources and opportunities.
- TOM
& BECKY PROGRAM
- For more than 45 years, the Chamber's Tom Sawyer and Becky
Thatcher have been Hannibal's most recognized ambassadors.
Each year the Chamber invites every seventh grader in Hannibal
to participate. After taking tests and participating in interviews
and final judging, the invitees are narrowed to five Toms
and five Beckys. On the Fourth-of-July weekend the "official"
Tom and Becky are selected. Although all ten Toms and Beckys
make numerous appearances, the "official" couple
travel throughout the United States and around the world representing
"America's Hometown".
