its, and helping make Hannibal a better place to live, work, and visit.

During some of the most dangerous nights of the year – when temperatures drop below zero and simply being outside can become life-threatening – this year’s recipients have made sure that no one in our community is left without a place to go.

The Hannibal Emergency Warming Center began with a vision… a simple but powerful belief that everyone deserves warmth, safety, and dignity.

First Christian Church brought that vision to life, launching the overnight warming center and laying the foundation for this critical service to our community.

And when challenges arose — when continuing that work became difficult due to circumstances outside of their control — the story didn’t end.

Instead, it grew stronger.

Trinity Episcopal Church stepped forward, opening their doors and becoming the home for the warming center, ensuring that this life-saving mission could continue.

Together, these two churches have created more than a shelter. They have created a place of compassion – providing not just warmth and meals, but connection to vital services and a reminder that every person matters.

They have shown us what it truly means to be a community, both in words and in action.

So tonight, we don’t just recognize an effort… we recognize a shared commitment to humanity, dignity, and hope.

It is my honor to present the Civic Contributor of the Year award to First Christian Church and Trinity Episcopal Church.
