Langhorne Meats & Provisions Earns New Business of the Year Award
The New Business of the Year Award recognizes a business that, in just a short time, has demonstrated steady growth, strong business practices, and a meaningful commitment to the betterment of our community.
This year’s recipient is a perfect example of what can happen when passion, expertise, and purpose come together.
Lucky for us, the business opened in Missouri, but actually has roots in Wisconsin, where its co-founders worked side by side in a farm-to-table butcher shop. There, they discovered a shared passion for quality food, sustainable agriculture, and connecting people to where their food comes from.
Then, one of the co-founders had a vision — to bring that same experience back home to Missouri…
Together, they took a leap of faith — building something entirely new, rooted in both craftsmanship and community.
Since opening, Langhorne Meats & Provisions has quickly established itself as more than just a specialty shop. It’s a place where customers know the story behind their food… where relationships with local farmers are not just part of the business model – they are the business model.
By creating a new outlet for regional producers, they are strengthening our local agricultural economy while giving customers access to high-quality, thoughtfully sourced products – from beef and pork to cheeses, jams, and more.
And while many new businesses focus only on growth, Co-founders Nikki Barr and Trevor Schultz have also invested in something equally important – a sense of place.
“They are always willing to lend a hand, to assist with a project, and to participate in something for the community,” said one of their nominators. “Even when it’s so cold their sauces freeze, you’ll see them set up at Living Windows, because they’re committed to bringing the vision of those community events to life.” She went on to add, “They have really plugged themselves into this community. Understanding it, getting to know people, and making sure they support fellow local businesses along the way, never once missing an opportunity to source ingredients, materials or supplies locally.”
All of this . . . while working multiple jobs, growing a loyal customer base, and continuing to dream even bigger for what’s ahead . . . In just a short time, Langhorne Meats & Provisions has shown us what it looks like to build a business with integrity, intention, and heart.
Congratulations to the first of two 2025 Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce New Business of the Year Honorees: Langhorne Meats & Provisions. Congratulations Nikki Barr and Trevor Schultz!
