This New Business of the Year awardee not only opened a brand new business to meet a need in the community . . . since opening, they have also served as a springboard for many other small local businesses to get started and grow. A true family affair, this business is a place where coffee, food, friendly service and community spirit blend perfectly together.
This business started in a humble trailer in the Lowe’s parking lot, where it operated until the building was complete . . . and we’ll circle back to that.

Dylan, Zanie, Kassondra, and Jen Terrill accept Coffee Barn’s New Business of the Year Award.
This dream of sisters-in-law Kassondra and Jen Terrill, along with their husbands, Shad and Shelby, started when Kassondra saw a need in our community for a convenient, quick-service coffee option. Inspired by the drive-thru coffee shops she encountered in larger cities, she and Jen envisioned a place where busy individuals could quickly grab their caffeine fix. And with the support of their family, that vision became a reality.
The business focuses on convenience, friendly service, and providing a wide variety of drinks . . . and Kasey’s homemade cinnamon rolls… well, they speak for themselves! The recently expanded menu features pastries, and more breakfast items, available all day, and a chicken salad sandwich for lunch.
But The Coffee Barn is about more than just coffee and food.
They have served our community by offering the upstairs space for groups and small meetings. There are frequently special drinks, with proceeds going to a cause in the community. We’ve had fun drinking strawberry lemonade from “Zombie Blood Bags” at Halloween, and picking up a flight of hot chocolate as a warm treat for nighttime drives to see Christmas lights. Our kids have enjoyed bounce houses and petting zoos, but not as much as we’ve enjoyed sipping a latte as we’ve watched them play. They’ve provided coffee for sports teams, first responders, educators and healthcare employees.
Not only did your family chair the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign, raising a record-breaking $142,6
95 – and you sent your employees across town to ring bells through the season.
And back to getting their start in a trailer . . . Now that they have a permanent location, they support fellow small businesses by allowing them to temporarily set up on their property, exposing us to Zippy’s Walking Tacos, the Smiley Vase Flower Trailer, The Greenhouse, Parsons Pumpkins, the Find Boutique, and more.
For their entrepreneurial spirit, keeping us caffeinated, and their commitment to our community, on behalf of the Hannibal Chamber, we are thrilled to present The Coffee Barn with the New Business of the Year Award! Congratulations!
