The 2025 Community Betterment Award honors a business, organization, or individual that helps make Hannibal a better place to live, work, and visit.
And this year’s recipient has done exactly that… by revitalizing one of the most meaningful gathering places in our community.
Central Park is more than just a park – It’s where our community shows up.
For events and celebrations…
For National Tom Sawyer Days…
For arts, crafts, and farmers markets…
For parades, festivals, service events, and moments in between.
It’s a space that belongs to all of us.
But like many well-loved places, over time… it began to show signs of wear.
Sidewalks that had slowly deteriorated.
Walkways that became more difficult to navigate.
And a growing need to ensure that the park remained accessible and welcoming for everyone who visits. Together with local business Bleigh Construction, the City of Hannibal and the Parks & Recreation Department made the improvements to give Central Park new life.
It is safer. Easier to navigate.
And it continues to serve as a welcoming and positive place – not only for our residents, but for the many visitors who experience Hannibal each year.
This is what community betterment looks like.
